Stick Ranger ver17.9

Yet another Stick Ranger level.  This time they added Hell Gate, which is actually located after an overlapping in the map, something which as never happened before.  The level is very similar to Castle Gate way at the beginning of the game.  The enemies are similar, the boss is similar, even the texture in the ground is more or less identical.  It’s pretty cool, and it’s a really challenging level as well.

Stick Ranger ver17.8

More weapons!  Sorry for being a day late on this, but I had a little trouble getting my saves to work properly.  Regardless, they have added some weapons for the monsters in Hell 8 to drop, so let’s go through them like we did last time.

Spark Cestus-  This one is pretty cool looking, but I fear it’s a little impracticable.  What it does is it’s a thunder charge weapon that releases these tiny sparks all around the boxer.  Seconds later, they deal damage.

Flame Great Sword-  Yay!  An upgrade to the Flame Sword.  This one basically has the same function as the last, but it deals more damage.  I think the flames last even longer too.

Oct Poison Shot-  This one is a tad underwhelming.  It fires 8 poisonous arrows forwards.  It’s not an arching weapon, so it can hit from quite a distance.  Unfortunately it’s damage it pitiful and I think there are better poison alternatives anyway.

Pyroclastic Flow-  This is actually an upgrade to the Lava.  And wow, it is strong.  It seems to fire multiple smaller lavas out at once, meaning that it can deal decent damage even to airborne enemies.

Giga Exp Rod-  I like this one a lot.  It forms a red circle over every enemy, and then has it explode.  The cool thing is that these explosions can damage other enemies in it’s range, so if many enemies are on top of each other, it can sort of multiply the damage.

Rocket Launcher-  It fires a large shot forward that causes a small explosion that deals great damage.  All for a good price.

Poison Morning Star-  It pretty much just seems like a literal upgrade from the last poisonous whip.  I like this one quite a bit.

Quick God-  The Angel’s quick weapons have always seemed a bit underwhelming, and this one is no exception.  The Quick God does have a cool feature though in that it’s actually a magic weapon.  When it charges, it causes a small explosion.  And this goes off quite often.

Stick Ranger ver17.7

Well I didn’t expect another Stick Ranger level so soon.  Today they added Hell 8 to the mix.  Honestly, after playing it it didn’t really give me that much trouble.  The enemies were fairly easy except for these firebreathing eels and it isn’t that long either.  The boss is interesting.  It swarms you with a bunch of enemies, the boss of which is the same size and fires a single huge projectile.

One thing I find kind of interesting however is where the level is located on the map.  It doesn’t really seem to go anywhere, and in fact sort of goes in on itself up a mountain.  I’m going to imagine the next level is south of that, and I’m interested to see what it has in store.

Stick Ranger ver17.6

Yay!  New Stick Ranger weapons!  I had a look through them and a lot of them look really cool.  So let’s go though them really quick.

Needle Cestus – This one is like its previous version, except it fires 60 tiny needles and in a less wide range, leading more of them to hit enemies.

Lightsaber 8 – It’s no surprise that the lightsaber is my favorite Gladiator weapon, so it delights me to see them add another upgrade for it.  It’s just more powerful, what else can I say?

Vigintuple Arrow – This thing fires 20 arrows at once apparently.  That is pretty impressive, especially with a Bullet’s Card.

Ice Missile – This one it cool.  It fires a three-way shot out at enemies that pierces through multiple fores.  It even has the cold effect too.  Dare I say it, I might finally replace my beloved Ice Meteor with this thing.  It is my favorite weapon in the game, but this Ice Missile is extremely powerful while not feeling like a weird downgrade.  That and it still has that cold effect, which I like.

Freeze Exp Rod – It’s an upgrade to the last freezing rod by dealing more damage.

Slow Laser Gun – The laser weapons are probably my favorite for the Gunner, and this one is an upgrade in which the laser beams move slower.  This is a neat change because it lets the lasers stay on enemies easier, which leads to multiple hits.

Thorn Morning Star – Like the Needle Cetus, this upgrade fires more needles in a denser range.  It doesn’t look nearly as impressive, but it’s more powerful.

Power God – It’s a very powerful ring with no magical abilities.

Man, quite a lot of upgrades.  Many of these are very fun and I’ll probably be replacing many of my weapons with them.

Stick Ranger ver17.5

The update for this week is a new Stick Ranger level, yay!  This time they added a new Hell level called Hell 7.  It’s inhabited mostly by those wheel monsters, so the old trick of holding a ranger above them does work to a point.  The level was very easy, however the boss caught me off guard a little.

On the map, I find it interesting how the level takes place below the previous cavern level.  I thought it would go upwards towards that big castle, but apparently they have different plans.  I’m very curious to see where this goes.

Planet simulation ver1.9

It appears that the creators of the Dan-Ball games are currently doing this for many of their games.  Last week they did it for Earth Editor, and this week they did it for Planet Simulation.  It appears that they are adding optimizations to the font of the games ,as well as making them run smoother in 60FPS.  Who knows if they’ll add some content next week or do this for another one of their games.

Earth Editor ver2.7

A very small performance-related update today for the game Earth Editor.  Two things have changed.  Firstly, they have optimized the font of the game.  I never played this game too much, so I’m unsure what they changed here, but I would imagine they have made the font of the game more crisp or stand out more.  Secondly, they optimized the framerate of the game, making it so the game runs better in 60FPS.  A very nice change.
